Create great content, then submit it to the major social bookmarking and link sharing services. Digg’s traffic effect is well known, as is Slashdot’s, but even the smaller services like Reddit, Furl, Shadows and StumbleUpon can send several thousand visitors. Apart from that I think word-of-mouth is the best way to direct traffic to your blogs and Tell-a-Friend is the best way to encourage your existing visitors to refer your blog to their contacts.

When you are making your profile, just put your website in your bio or signature so when people scan your social networking site they can find your main site and can go there easily. Also make sure to always update your site to make it more user friendly.
